The Protector

In the sky's of blue and green 
an absense of color can be seen
An unknown cloud in the sky
To the Land below this cloud is a blessing
Whom no one ever wants to say bye
Protecting those below from what is in the sky
Providing shade from the sun
She also rains down until she is done keeping all below cool as can be
Her rain has been around since before the great flood
From great over abundance to where is she now
But how, how is this possible
This amazing clouds name is Skylar
She is white, black, and grey
And so many different colors, just depends on the day
She is shelter and we need her
She is cool and we love her
She knows how to leave us alone
So long some times we can't wait for her no longer
She always shows up when, where, and how she needs to be
Keeping those below as cool as she
Protector of those below her from those above her
The stars too bright to those below
Unaffected by those above or below
Yet is some how a product of them both
How can this be so
Too strong to feel the highs or lows around her
From perfect white to black as night
Her depth of coverage is oh so right
Grey also is no stranger to this cloud so unique
Vibrant colors too, if that is what you seek
Enough to make a rainbow green with envi
An ocean blue and full of tears
Because that cloud is so versatile
You really can't help but smile
Her ability to be ever changing
Adapting to fit the needs of those below
Free as can be just going with the flow
No matter the speed at which she moved
Whether she stayed together or fell apart

Reflecting her surroundings like no other
Even changing before our eyes
From white to immediately black and a never ending array of colors in between
From a beginning to seemingly no end she intrigues us

She never over stays her welcome

But the storm that brews is also found to be the source of the cool and calm
The cloud named Skylar is a force like no other
A force like that of a mother
Strong to gentle she handles each situation with precision just right
Under the sky with our protector
Who is sometimes out of sight
But at the end of the day to all a good night
Because we know she always returns to us as we need her to be in or out of sight
